At Makura Creations, we’re always on the lookout for interesting developments in the world of search engines, especially as we navigate digital marketing in Nepal. Recently, we stumbled upon something curious while using Bing – Microsoft appears to be hiding Google search results when you search for “Google” on Bing.
Here’s what we noticed:
When searching “Google” on Bing, the usual search results don’t show up immediately. Instead, Bing displays a “Promoted by Microsoft” search box at the top of the page. This adds an extra step that feels a bit unnecessary.
Here’s the interesting part: Microsoft also seems to be experimenting with a version of the search results page that includes a Google-like logo at the top, though the actual Google search listings remain buried.
For comparison, we searched for “Bing” on Google, and Google showed Bing’s official link right at the top—no tricks, no hidden results.
While this could be part of Bing’s strategy to keep users engaged on their platform, it’s something users in Nepal and beyond might find a bit unusual, especially if they rely on Bing for their searches.
As users, it’s essential to understand how search engines influence our online experience. Bing’s tactics suggest a push to retain users by prioritizing their promoted content, while Google’s approach feels more direct and transparent.
Our takeaway? Don’t rely on a single search engine for all your queries. Exploring multiple platforms ensures you get a broader perspective and access to more accurate, unbiased results.
